Toby Roper

Build Manager

Toby Roper is a Program Manager on the Build Team at Alloy Partners. He began his career in Strategy and Innovation Consulting with Innosight, where he developed a core skill set and gained insights into the challenges large organizations face in changing, innovating, and defining long-term plans for their evolution. Toby then spent several years in state government, leading a Medicaid strategy team tasked with turning high-level, ambiguous problems or policy goals into actionable plans and programs.

Recognizing parallels in the work of Alloy Partners, Toby decided to join the team. He was drawn to the opportunity to work with passionate, high-performing individuals and to test startups as a third "vector of positive change," alongside corporate innovation and government/policy.

What Toby loves most about his job is the potential for startups to address intractable problems in ways that other change vectors, such as corporate strategy or government policy, cannot. He finds it inspiring to see what small, motivated teams with big ideas and solid plans can achieve in improving the world.

Toby's diverse background includes growing up across three continents—in the UK, Singapore, and Canada—before coming to the US for college. His passions during high school and college were playing rugby and participating in Model UN. Remarkably, he has played organized rugby matches on five continents and run Model UN conferences on four.
